HONORING BILLY ELKINS
The MVT family recently came together to honor the late Billy Elkins, one of Mesilla Valley Transportation’s earliest drivers and a valued part of our history.
Billy was more than MVT Driver #2, he was a Vietnam veteran who once walked to Washington, D.C. to raise awareness for POW and MIA soldiers. He also suggested adding the POW/MIA decal to MVT trailers, a tradition that continues today across more than 7,000 trailers.
It was especially meaningful to see longtime drivers and employees gather to recognize Billy’s legacy, representing more than 200 years of combined MVT experience.
We thank Billy’s family, including his daughter Erica and grandson, for sharing his story with us. Billy’s legacy continues on every mile, on every highway.

WINTER DRIVING SAFETY REMINDER
As winter conditions increase, please remember to drive cautiously. Slow down on snow or ice, leave extra following distance, and brake early and gently. Sudden stops or sharp turns can cause loss of control, especially when roads warm and refreeze.
DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES
Vehicle condition matters just as much as driving behavior. Make sure tires, brakes, lights, wipers, and fluids are all in good working order before heading out. Visibility can drop fast during winter weather, so keep windows clean, lights on, and mirrors clear to help you see and be seen
